WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Thousands lined the land around Riverfront Stadium for Wichita’s “Red, White and Boom!”

Everyone eagerly waited for 9:40 p.m. to see the fireworks spectacular. For some folks it was their first time and for others this is a yearly tradition.

Victory Pyrotechnics and Special Effects have been hard at work getting the fireworks show ready that everyone is anticipating. Some have certain expectations.

“I came to see what they got this year,” said Kylee Martin.

“I saw the Riverfest fireworks and those are amazing, and I have a feeling these are going to be even better,” said Alora Nesting.

“We want to see what Wichita has. What kind of craziness they got going on over here,” said Isaiah Funguya.

“I heard that y’all pack a punch with you guys,” said Jasmine Barrett.

Funguya and Barrett moved from the Rochester, Minnesota area to Wichita back in October.

So how did Jasmine and Isaiah find out about the 4th of July festivities in Wichita?

“I actually looked up events to do for the 4th of July. And this event came up. And I was like, alright let’s take a look. It opens at six so we’ll go and check it out,” said Barrett.

Also a new addition this year, a DJ from San Diego. He just showed up and decided to play family friendly music to celebrate America’s birthday.

“You know what? Bring it on please. Bring on the celebration,” said Martin.

“I hope somebody writes him a check at some point to pay him,” said Nesting.
