KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KAKE) - The Kansas City Chiefs have informed defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs that he will be released from the team after recent legal troubles.

The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence and burglary by the Tuscaloosa County, Alabama Sheriff's Office over the weekend, KMBC-TV reports. Court documents show that a woman, identified by police as the mother of Buggs' child, told police that Buggs broke into her home with a tire iron and went upstairs to confront her during the early morning hours of June 16. The woman told police that Buggs dragged her down the stairs, which left scratch marks on her wrist. After the woman told Buggs she was calling police, Buggs allegedly left the scene.

Buggs was later arrested in the parking lot of a Little Caesars restaurant after initially denying any knowledge of the incident.

Buggs was previously charged in May with a pair of misdemeanors after an animal control officer found two dogs locked on his property.

Drafted by Pittsburgh in 2019, Buggs has been a member of the Raiders and Lions before being signed to the Chiefs' practice squad in January.

NFL Insider Tom Pelissero, citing sources, said Buggs has been informed of his release.
