Possible road rage incident leaves two hospitalized after east Kellogg crash, police say

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Two people were taken to a local hospital for injuries following what police believe to be a road-rage incident on east Kellogg on Sunday afternoon.

A Wichita Police officer says at 12:43 p.m., police were called to Towne East Square for the report of a disturbance with a weapon. Officers responded to the area of Kellogg and Armour and were notified by citizens that the incident may have been a road rage incident.

Police say they learned that during a traffic altercation on Kellogg, one person in a vehicle produced a weapon, saw officers in the area and fled. WPD says a slight pursuit followed, but officers disregarded it and turned back to Towne East.

A few minutes later, officers learned of an accident that occurred near Kellogg and Oliver.

One witness says he was coming from QuikTrip when he saw a four-car accident. The witness says he believes the incident started at Towne East with one driver waving a gun. He recalled that one man had to be cut out from a vehicle and another was put in handcuffs.

Kellogg and Oliver was closed for a brief period while crews worked to clean up after the crash. The intersection is now back open.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the crash.
