WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Some residents in east Wichita and Eastborough lost power for a few hours Monday afternoon.

An Evergy spokesperson said the outage, which was first reported shortly before 3 p.m., was caused by strong winds knocking trees down onto power lines.

Crews have restored power to about 1,000 of the initial 1,500 that were without power. There is currently no timeline on when service will be completely restored.
