WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Just a couple of weeks ago after a mail carrier was bitten, residents were told their service would be suspended if they did not get street-side mailboxes.

A little over a week ago, Linda Fox's backyard was full of life with her four fur babies running around barking and playing. Linda has since become overwhelmed by the silence after two pit bulls brutally attacked and killed three of her dachshunds.

"When you see your babies getting killed, I'm on anxiety medicine and everything because I just can't get those images out of my head. Those dogs jumping my fence, climbing my fence, just going after my babies and just snatching them,” said Fox.

Fox said the day of the attack, her neighbor called saying two vicious dogs were running down the street. She tried grabbing her four dachshunds while using a shovel to fight off the two pit bulls but was only able to save one.

She called 911 when it happened and was told they would dispatch the police and animal control but according to Fox, they never came.

“Nobody ever came out, the police didn't come out, animal control never came."

Just days before, there was another dog attack in the same neighborhood and it took several days for animal control to respond.

Nicole Stevenson owns the pit bulls responsible for the attack and said pets are like children and she hurts for Fox.

An emotional Stevenson said, "It was terrible, I wouldn't want anyone to go through that and I know that they probably feel some type of way against me because, oh she just ran after her dog and didn't care about our dog but I did. I hurt for your dog too."

Stevenson said her pit bulls got out the day of the attack, by hopping a fence. She said they were harmless and this was the first time they have ever attacked.

Stevenson's neighbor Sherry Tucker has one of the pit bulls from Stevenson’s litter. Tucker said the dogs would get out but they never attacked anyone.

Fox said losing her three dachshunds is like losing family. She feels there is a disconnect between 911 and animal control and feels her fur babies would still be with her if animal control would have picked the dogs up from the initial attack.

Fox is wanting justice for her dachshunds and also wants laws to be changed when it comes to protection of animals.

ICT Dachshunds started a GoFundMe to help pay the medical expenses for Fox’s three fur babies.
