A 22-year-old man was killed when his car crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer on an eastern Kansas highway.

The accident happened at around 11 p.m. Wednesday on K-68 about five miles west of Paola. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Dalis Palmer was heading west when his Mazda went left of center and struck the oncoming semi.

Palmer, of Osawatomie, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. The 37-year-old truck driver was treated for minor injuries.

The patrol's online crash log does not say whether the crash was weather related.

The Miami County Republic reports Palmer was driving a car involved in a crash on the same highway in Republic County in June of last year. His Honda went left of center and hit a Ford F250 pulling a horse trailer, which caught on fire. Palmer and several others in the pickup, including two children, were hurt. Two horses died at the scene and another died later that evening.
