Jurors left a Sedgwick County courtroom Friday morning to go view a concrete structure where the body of a 3-year-old Wichita boy was discovered.

Stephen Bodine is on trial for murder in Evan Brewer's death. Brewer's body was discovered in a concrete structure in September 2017.

Jurors were taken to an evidence storage facility near City Hall. They saw the structure and barrels containing pieces of the concrete that had been chipped away.

The concrete structure and barrels were too heavy to be carried into the courtroom.

Testimony in the Evan Brewer murder case centered on how and where the boy's body was found.

Stephen Bodine is on trial for murder and child abuse. A dozen witnesses testified on Thursday. Jurors got to see video of the arrest of Evan's mother and the discovery of his body.

The 3-year-old's body was discovered in a South Wichita house in September 2017.

A landlord found a concrete structure in the utility room of the rental home where Evan Brewer lived with his mother and Bodine. The landlord initially thought it was a work bench turned upside down. He started chipping away at it. He called police when he smelled a strange odor.

"The whole time I'm freaking out because it seemed like a little coffin to me," the landlord said.

Police officers used an x-ray machine to confirm there was a child's body in the concrete. They found Evan Brewer wrapped in bedding.

Other witnesses relayed information of reports of abuse directed at Evan and his mother from Bodine.

Testimony resumes Friday morning.
