Woman's arm severed in work accident at Kansas campground
Authorities say a 50-year-old Salina woman lost one of her arms while helping to drill holes for fence posts at a local campground.
The accident happened at around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday the KOA Campground at 1109 West Diamond. Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan told the Salina Journal that the woman was standing behind a tractor when her jacket got caught in a power take-off device as it continued to spin.
Soldan said the woman's left arm was severed and her right arm was severely damaged. She was taken to a local hospital and then transported to a hospital in Wichita. Her condition was not available Wednesday morning.
A power take-off (PTO) device transfers an engine’s mechanical power to another piece of equipment, such as a jackhammer using a tractor engine.
