A complete closure is expected at Kellogg and I-235 this weekend for road construction in that area.

Starting Friday at 7 p.m., traffic will be diverted to detours during the closure. It is expected to re-open by 6 a.m. Monday.

Detours include:

  • Eastbound Kellogg: Traffic will be routed onto southbound I-235 to K-42 to northbound I-235 to eastbound Kellogg
  • Westbound Kellogg: Traffic will be routed onto northbound I-235 to Central Avenue to southbound I-235 to westbound Kellogg (the detour uses the westbound Kellogg ramp to northbound I-235, which opened today)
  • Northbound I-235: Traffic will exit to eastbound Kellogg, then exit at Edwards Street, and will use westbound Kellogg to northbound I-235
  • Southbound I-235: Traffic on I-235 will exit to westbound Kellogg to Dugan to eastbound Kellogg to southbound I-235

Road work includes the replacement of four bridge approaches on the Kellogg bridge over the Wichita – Valley Center Floodway, removal of bridge construction forms, mill and overlay of asphalt pavement, bridge pier painting and pavement striping.

The project was initially supposed to begin on October 5, but recent rains delayed the project.
