A Wichita teenager has been arrested for a hit and run that left a mother and daughter injured.

Police said Flores struck his ex-girlfriend and her 5-year-old daughter near South Clifton and Butler Sunday afternoon.   Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Streets in the area were closed for hours as officers searched for Flores.   He was arrested on a traffic violation in the 6500 block of North Hillside.

Previous story:

A mother and her child are expected to survive after the two were hurt in a hit-and-run Sunday in south Wichita.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m. near S. Clifton and Butler.

Wichita Police officer Paul Cruz says the woman and her five-year-old daughter were run over by a 19-year-old man. Police say the victims and suspect know each other. The victims were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Streets were closed for hours because Cruz says the suspect was believed to have barricaded himself in a nearby home. Cruz says SWAT was activated due to the suspect's "dangerous criminal history". While SWAT focused in on a house near the crime scene, Cruz says authorities gathered information that led them to a different area where the suspect was found. He has been arrested.

The suspect's name has not been released.
