The dream of every athlete is to leave a legacy. For Andale football standout Parker Bruce, that dream is no different.

"It's just something special, you know," Bruce said. "As little kids we used to play football every game here watching under the lights and thinking 'this is gonna be us someday.' It's crazy to think that one day is now today."

Bruce, now a senior, is working harder than ever on leaving his mark in his final season.

"I just always think back and say I never want to leave anything left questioned," Bruce said. "I always want to make sure people know what I did and what we did as a team. That's something that drives me every play."

Andale is off to an 8-0 start in 2017, thanks in part to big plays from Bruce. With his performance so far this season, it's safe to say the two-way senior has cemented his spot in Indian football history.

"He's just Mr. Consistent," Andale head coach Dylan Schmidt said. "It's been unbelievable defensively what he's done. He's taken away one a game type of stats. That's been phenomenal and that's something we preach to the kids is hey go get the ball. He's been able to do that."

The defensive back and wideout takes his leadership role to heart and always takes the field ready to go.

"The mentality of football is just undeniably one of the biggest parts of the game," Bruce added. "That's something that Andale has always prided itself on is that we're just gonna be tougher and more physical than you."

But one of the biggest driving forces behind the young man's play is his father, who he lost in 2006, but still looks up to each and ever day.

"I think the one person I've always tried to emulate and look up to is my dad," Bruce concluded. "He was a great role model for me and he coached here and was an assistant principal here. He's just someone that I've always looked up to and I want to be just like when I grow up."
