A Wichita State art student is left picking up the pieces. Her private art studio was vandalized. Thousands of dollars of supplies were either stolen or destroyed. Melinda Sudbrink discovered the studio trashed on Thursday, she's still heartbroken over the mess and the thousands of dollars it will take to replace all she had.

Sudbrink showed us the locked painting studio for higher level art majors. She's been working in this room for three years, you have to know a password to be able to get in, but recently some one came in a destroyed the studio. "I feel nothing but anger and just pure disrespect because you walk around and look at the damage and the things they left behind, and they had fun destroying other people's stuff."

Sudbrinks says as painters it's not unusual for a work space to see splattered paint but nothing like what's left to clean up now.  Paint on the floor, on the tables and walls. Brushes dipped in glue and slashed canvases.

According to Sudbrink, not only did the vandals destroy her things, but they also took the time to create paintings of their own.  She found a painting with the names "Deena + Neeta" painted on the canvas, and another one with a date "8-11-17."

Lisa Shipp is Sudbrink's mom, she knows how expensive art supplies can be, and this is going to be a set back for her daughter. "People don't understand that one jar of a certain thing is $50 and for a certain class or project you have to have 8 jars, well I'll work a little more overtime so I can help buy you so paint. It's heart breaking and disrespectful," Shipp said.

A go fund me has been created to help Sudbrink replace some of her supplies. This unexpected destruction was something she didn't budget for.
