The community is coming together to help a Kansas teacher, Emily Struve, who has cancer. Her health has declined, and she now is participating in clinical trials in Missouri. A fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, will go to help Emily's family travel to the clinical trials. The event is at St. Mary's Parish at 2300 E Meadowlark Blvd. in Derby.
